Cellphone Allowance
We provide you with a monthly cellphone allowance to help you perform your duties more effectively while working remotely.
What can you claim?
- Your cellphone contract (e.g. Telkom contract, Vodacom Contract)
- Your home wifi/data contract
- You can also buy airtime/data directly from a supplier and claim that
How much can you claim?
The cellphone allowance is capped at R500.00 - this means you cannot claim more than R500.00.
Should the amount on the invoice or receipt be less than R500.00, you must claim the amount reflecting on your invoice/receipt (see examples below):
Example 1 Your cellphone contract and invoice is R760 for October. You can only claim up to R500.00. You need to submit the invoice as your supporting documentation and follow the standard expense claim process.

Example 2 Your home wifi’s contract and invoice is R260 for October. You can only claim R260.00 as your invoice amount is R260.00. The amount on the invoice is the amount you claim. You need to submit the invoice as your supporting documentation and follow the standard expense claim process.

When should you claim?
Cellphone allowance claims must be submitted each month on Harvest under Expenses. Please make sure that you use the correct project and task.
If you forget to submit your cellphone allowance for the month, you unfortunately forfeit your cellphone allowance that month. You cannot claim double the following month or try bundle up all the allowances you have forgotten to claim.
This is why it is important to submit it each month, set yourself a reminder and claim it when it pops up.
