Working Remote

We’ve adopted a hybrid work model to offer greater flexibility while maintaining productivity. The remote working privilege is granted on a relationship of trust.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Home Office Allowance - We’ll assist you in setting up a functional remote work space.
  • Writing Skills - We’re committed to improving written communication across the organisation.
  • Face-to-Face Interaction - We’ll make sure to meet in person deliberately from time to time (because it is a scarcity it will become much more deliberate and valuable).
  • Tools & Services - We’ll standardise software tools and services for effective remote work.

Minimum requirements for remote work

Agreement

Signed agreement - Ensure you have signed the remote working agreement.

Location

  • Dedicated Workspace - Ensure your work environment maintains confidentiality. (No one should be able to hear your conversations or see on your screen)

Warning

Maintaining confidentiality is crucial to our operations. Failure to work in a dedicated, private space, free from individuals not employed by Glucode, will be considered a breach of your employment contract.

  • Location Change - Seek approval from your lead in advance if you intend to work from a different location than agreed.

Warning

Glucode needs to keep track of the whereabouts of our equipment for security and asset management reasons.

Infrastructure

  • Workstation - Set up an ergonomically sound workstation with appropriate seating.
  • Proper Lighting & Airflow - Your workspace must be well-lit and ventilated.
  • Internet Connection - You need a stable internet connection with at least 20 mbps download and 10 mbps upload speed. Uncapped internet is recommended as you will be required to install software updates to tooling and operating systems as an when required.
  • Uninterrupted Power - Ensure you can work and fulfill your responsibilities during load-shedding periods.

Warning

While we understand that unplanned load-shedding can cause unexpected disruptions, it should not become a habitual reason for not completing work or attending meetings. If power outages regularly impact your productivity, you may be required to work from the office.

  • Company Equipment - keep your equipment in a clean and neat state (including all adapters, cables and/or chargers). Any damage to the device as a result of your negligence, usage outside of executing your duties, personal use, misconduct and/or any prohibited use will result in you being held liable for the repairs or replacement of the device. Refer to the Information Technology Policy.

Minimum expectations for remote work

  • Project Continuity - Ensure no disruption in ongoing projects.
  • Visibility - Regularly check in with your team and clients.
  • Load-Shedding Preparations - Plan your day around load-shedding, keeping devices charged or having a UPS on standby.
  • Communication - Discuss any potential disruptions with your team in advance.

Special Circumstances

  • Operational Requirement - Some events or situations may require mandatory office presence.

Online Meeting Etiquette

  • Camera - Must be on and focused at eye level for better interaction.
  • Dress Code - Maintain a professional appearance. Review the Dress code policy.
  • Background - Keep it clean and professional.
  • Audio - Ensure clear, noise-free communication.

Accountability and Reliability

  • Be accountable for your performance and decisions.
  • Honour your commitments to your team and clients.
  • Manage your time effectively.

Remote working privileges are granted at the discretion of the Company and may be revoked at any time if the minimum requirements and expectations are not met.
